Charity 5K Gives New Meaning to Running for Your Life

Posted: Mon, September 16, 2013

On October 12, the world of 5K racing will be turned upside down in the first annual Walking Deadwood Zombie Run in Deadwood.

During the event, runners will be chased by “zombies” along the course. Each runner has a flag football belt with several flags attached. Cross the finish line with at least one flag and you “survive.” Cross the finish line without any flags and you will be joining the ranks of the “undead.”

It is a fun concept and all proceeds of the race go to support the Northern Hills Alliance for Children, a non-profit that provides safe, affordable and accessible childcare.
