NORTHERN HILLS — If you live in the Black Hills and have golfed in the past couple weeks, it's likely you find it hard to fathom there's snow in them 'thar Hills. But there is. And plenty of it in the higher elevations of the Northern Hills for winter recreation.

South Dakota's first annual Largest Tailgate Party on Deadwood's Main Street Feb. 5
It's the first annual Largest Tailgate Party in South Dakota with a 24-foot big screen! The weekend's festivities include a banquet on Saturday, Feb. 4, and many events taking place on Sunday, Feb. 5. Here's a schedule of events. All event proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.

Black Hills snowmobile trails will be opening Thursday, Dec. 15, for the 2011-2012 season. It’s been reported that the trail system now has a foot and a half of snow, and groomers will begin their limited schedule on Thursday night. With flurries expected Thursday and Friday, area snow enthusiasts are chanting, “let it snow.”

This past weekend, the Rounder's Poker room hosted the 2nd Annual Fall Classic Poker Tournament. The tournament was held October 21st through October 23rd, with 226 players testing their skills against the best poker players in the 5 state area. There was a $40,800 prize pool, with the winner taking home $13,266.
